CHARLIE GIBSON (ABC NEWS): Do you feel in any way responsible for what's happening [with the recession]?
DUBYA: You know, I'm the President during this period of time, but I think when the history of this period is written, people will realize a lot of the decisions that were made on Wall Street took place over a decade or so, before I arrived in President, during I arrived in President.

I appreciate all the local and state officials who are here today. I particularly want to point out one person — Staff Sergeant John Forbess. I had the honor of meeting John at the base of Air Force One. He was severely wounded in a helicopter crash in Iraq in 2003. Yet, despite his wounds, he volunteers in the Fisher House.

I want to thank Dirk Kempthorne — Mr. Secretary, thank you for being here. Jonathan Scharfen, Acting Director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, as well as Congressman Doris Matsui from California.

When we sit down at the summit table tomorrow, we bring clear priorities. Tomorrow's discussion will be the first in a series of meetings. It will focus on key five objectives.

Free markets allowed Japan, an island with few natural resources, to recover from war and grow into the world's second-largest economy.

There are clear-cut ways for nations to demonstrate the commitment to open markets. The United States Congress has an immediate opportunity by approving free trade agreements with Colombia, Peru, and South Korea.

This is a job which, you know, obviously had a lot of stress to it. It has a lot of pressure. But when you're around your family at all, all that pales.

Clearly, this guy is going to bring a great sense of family to the White House. And I hope Laura and I did the same thing.

Mr. President [Lugo of Paraguay], I've been impressed by un corazón grande. You care deeply about the people of your country. And I have felt that compassion.

I'm very fond of this part of the country. It's not that far away from my home state. And so, appreciate your time. Appreciate the good folks in this part of the world. I do want to thank all those who have said prayers for me and Laura during our presidency.

And finally — and finally, it is a pleasure to welcome future Stanley Cuppers — the Auburn Extreme Hockey Club. I guess extreme means extremely good.

By undertaking new cooperation on civil nuclear energy, India will be able to count on a reliable fuel supply for its civilian reactors, meet the energy demands of its people, and reduce its independence on fossil fuels.

These two women are not only great athletes, they're really great people. And I'm just so sorry that Misty May got injured on Dancing for the Stars. God, if only she had me as a partner, you know? Except I can't dance. But I wish — you know, it's interesting, I read a comment from Misty May today. She said, yes, I got hurt Dancing on the Stars, but I'll be back at the 2012 Olympics.

In the weeks that followed, our Olympic team took part in the largest games ever held. Over 100,000 athletes competed in more than 300 events.

The American people expect the nomination process to be as free of partisanship as possible, and for senators to rive above tricks and gimmicks designed to thwart nominees.
