Americans spend 6 billion hours a year filling out their tax reforms.

Forty-three days before the election, my opponent has now suddenly settled on a proposal for what to do next, and it's exactly what we're currently doing. We're working with the international partners. We're training Iraqi troops. We're reconstructing the — reconstructing the company. We're preparing for elections.

It breaks my heart to see the loss of innocent life and to see brave troops in combat lose their life. It just breaks my heart. But I understand what's going on. These people are trying to shake the will of the Iraqi citizens, and they want us to leave. That's what they want us to do. And I think the world would be better off if we did leave. If we didn't — if we left, the world would be worse.

The best way to protect us is to stay on the offensive and to find terrorists before they try to harm us again. And they will.

We've been through a recession. That means things are going backwards.

I saw a threat. The Congress saw a threat. The United Nations Security Council saw a threat in the form of Saddam Hussein. He was not only a threat to people in the Middle East because of terrorist ties. He's a threat to America or anybody else who loved freedom. He's a threat to his own people. He had torture chambers and mass graves.

We increased the child credit to $1,000 per child. That helps people raising their families. If you've got children, it helps a lot.

We're really proud of you. I love the story. It's what I love about our country, isn't it?

He got him 175 employees, which is a good size company.

Had I known that the enemy was going to use airplanes to strike America, to attack us, I would have used every resource, every asset, every power of this government to protect the American people.

We increased expenses, particularly in two areas — the military. If I put somebody in harm's way, they're going to get the best, as far as I'm concerned. [Audience applauses...] Thank you all. Sit down, please. Yes, I appreciate you applauding our troops. That's who you're applauding.

Brian Stowell is here. ...He says the tax cuts helped a lot. That's his words, not mine. ...He's going to buy a new router, made in North Carolina. There's a router worker who's going to be a — benefit from his decision caused by tax relief.

Medical liability reform is a national problem that requires a national solution. The House has passed a good bill. It is stuck in the Senate. Senators must understand no one has been healed by a frivolous lawsuit in America.

Millions of — thousands of people — millions of dollars and thousands of people — millions of dollars aren't being invested and thousands of people aren't working.

These people don't have tanks. They don't have ships. They hide in caves. They send suiciders out.

I was proud the other day when both Republicans and Democrats stood with me in the Rose Garden to announce their support for a clear statement of purpose: You disarm, or we will.

I know something about being a governor, and I know what it takes to get elected.

I'm honored that Governor Shaheen is here today. I appreciate her taking time out of her schedule to come and pay her respects to the Presidency.

If we remain strong and focused and tough when we need to, if we continue to speak clearly about right from wrong and defend the values — which are not American values, but God-given values — we can achieve peace. We can achieve peace in the world, we can achieve peace for our citizens.

If we hold our values, God-given values in the forefront, and that is freedom, we can achieve a peaceful world.

You need to listen carefully to the debates that goes on in our nation's capital. You see, some of them are — goes on with people trying to get to the nation's capital. Some of them, they talk about the government's money.

The definition of a patriot in the face of the evil done to America is to serve something greater than yourself in life, is to help somebody in need, is to love a person one at a time, as we remember that — which I know we will.

The problem we have, and the reason we have to continue to talking about this issue is because of a quirk in the Senate rules. And I'm going to let old Judd [ = Senator Judd Gregg of New Hampshire], after I leave back to go see my mother, tell you what — how this happened. Let me just put it to you this way, in plain language. The Senate has got the kind of rule where you pass the tax cut and then ten years it goes back to where we were. The way I like to put it, if I can — in plain English is, on the one hand, they taketh away, on the other hand, they giveth. On the one hand they give tax relief, on the other hand, you don't get tax relief. It's hard to explain in Manchester, New Hampshire, and it's darn sure hard to explain in Crawford, Texas.

Some communities you say, hey, American Dream — and they go, what does that mean?

I think we need not only to eliminate the tollbooth to the middle class, I think we should knock down the tollbooth.

Will the highways to the Internet become more few?
